Christmas Wishes and Holiday Hopes

We come to the time of the year when we all find peace and joy in our thoughts and hearts. We take this season and wrap our children in it. We do our best to show our fellow man or woman a bit more humanity and goodwill. It is this season that I love and this season I enjoy. I do not look at what I may get nor do I look at what I may buy. I do not look back in my past at what presents I unwrapped but instead I marvel at the love I was given. This is the hope that I carry with me and the feelings I try to pass on to my kids. This season there are millions worldwide that will go without and there are many more that will set aside the war for this one day. This is and has remained the one day we as a species are at peace. What a great day on Earth it truly is.

'Christmas Bells' poem by Henry Wadsworth

Make it Snow !

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along
The unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

Till, ringing, singing on its way
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime,
A chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound
The Carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

And in despair I bowed my head;
‘There is no peace on earth,’ I said;
‘For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!’

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
‘God is not dead; nor doth he sleep!
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men!’
